Shinrin Yoku/ Forest Bathing
25/06/2021 @ 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Unwind, de-stress and reconnect with a forest bathing session outdoors in the woodlands of the Colne Valley.
How often do you go for a walk and find your feet are moving but your mind has drifted to thinking about work, family and stresses in your daily life? How often do you feel like you’re not really connecting to the world around you when your outside?
Join us for a guided mindful session to learn to switch off and ground yourself in the present whilst appreciating the world around you.
Being outdoors is more than just exploring new places and looking after your physical health. The outdoors is well known to be a great place to improve your mental wellbeing too.
Mindfulness is the practice of meditating to be in the present moment and meditating outside is an easy way to disconnect from life pressures and centre yourself here and now.
The use of nature and outdoor space in meditation has been proven to provide major health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety and boosting your immune system.
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, originated in Japan where it was developed in the 1980s after studies found that forest bathing positively creates calming neuro-psychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system.
This session is more about connecting with nature and the present moment than it is about physical exercise, as such we will spend time sat listening and meditating as well as walking through the woodland. Details of where to meet will be sent to you via email when you have booked on the event.
Here at Tinkadventures we want everyone to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors, so our mindfulness walks, forest bathing sessions and meditations are accessible to all. The sessions are about disconnecting from life’s pressures and stress, and reconnecting with nature and grounding yourself.
