Tinkadventures is owned and operated by Emily and Jared. Between us we hold nationally recognised Mountain Training qualifications: Mountain Leader, and Rock Climbing Instructor as well as other qualifications in Water Sports, Mindfulness, Duke of Edinburgh Assessors and Navigation tutor.
Tinkadventures was established to help individuals to develop their personal skills to enjoy their own adventures. We are a National Navigation Award Provider and a Mountain Training Accredited Provider.
Emily is a fully qualified and insured Mountain Leader with over 10 years experience working in the outdoors, training people in navigation skills and leading groups on adventures.
She is also a qualified Mindfulness Instructor, passionate about sharing that the outdoors can benefit the mind and not just the body.
She regularly works across the UK with youth groups, schools and colleges, as a fully qualified DofE Bronze, Silver and Gold Assessor and Instructor working in partnership with a variety of outdoor organisations.
Being outdoors is an addiction for Emily. She loves inspiring people to be outdoors and seeing them get hooked on the bug of adventure that only self-reliance in the elements can bring.
There is nothing like the feeling of the wind on your face (even if it comes with rain) to make you feel alive – it’s a perfect ‘reset button’ to the hazards of modern life.
She has been a proud Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion since 2017, promoting ways to access the outdoors. If you want to check out the GetOutside website you can find it here. Emily is also a Her Outdoors ambassador, providing inspirational events to engage and encourage confidence in women.
I’ll never forget the girl from inner city Manchester who was excited to be in the mist on the top of the Langdale Pike’s in the Lake District, as she could ‘touch the sky’.
Emily is a regular hiker, fell runner and mountaineer. She also loves to travel and experiencing new cultures, and so if you’re interested in what else she get up to you can check out her blog under the Adventures menu. Here you’ll find everything from Jungles in Cambodia, submitting 6000m peaks in Nepal and Bolivia and first ascents expeditions in Kyrgyzstan.
She is a Director on the board of Mountain Training UK and also the BMC’s charity Access and Conservation Trust, helping to shape the future of the two organisations. She is also an Assistant Leader in her local Mountain Rescue Team.
Jared’s real passion is rock climbing and inspiring others to learn skills and confidence climbing on crags and mountain routes. He is a fully qualified and insured Mountain Leader and a Rock Climbing Instructor.
Jared regularly delivers introduction to rock climbing courses at crags around the Peak District and beyond as well as enabling people to achieve their goals climbing mountain routes and completing challenge events.
Jared is happiest when he’s on rock, and regularly onsights trad E2 and sport 7a and is always keen to push his grade. He is also a strong winter climber and leads Scottish IV, European Water Ice IV and Alpine AD+.
He’s also a keen mountain biker exploring trails and single tracks with a particular preference for fast downhills.
Jared is also Outdoor Meet secretary for the Karabiner Mountaineering Club, organising regular meets and ensuring the calendar is busy with climbing and mountaineering adventures.
