Being outdoors is more than just exploring new places and looking after your physical health. The outdoors is well known to be a great place to improve your mental wellbeing too.
Mindfulness is the practice of meditating to be in the present moment and meditating outside is an easy way to disconnect from life pressures and centre yourself here and now.
The use of nature and outdoor space in meditation has been proven to provide major health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety and boosting your immune system.
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, originated in Japan where it was developed in the 1980s after studies found that forest bathing positively creates calming neuro-psychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system.
Here at Tinkadventures we want everyone to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors, so our mindfulness walks, forest bathing sessions and meditations are accessible to all. The sessions are about disconnecting from life’s pressures and stress, and reconnecting with nature and grounding yourself.
All our mindfulness activities are delivered by Emily, a qualified mindfulness instructor and mental health first aider.

Mindfulness Walks
Our regular mindfulness walks are held around West Yorkshire and provide an opportunity for everyone to connect with nature and disconnect from life.
It’s important to us our mindfulness walks are accessible to all, wherever possible.

Forest Bathing
Connecting with trees provides a profound rebalance to the body’s hormones.
We provide sessions across West Yorkshire, enabling all to enjoy the benefits of the ancient art of Shinrin Yoku.

8 week Mindfulness Course
As well as one off courses we also deliver a full 8 week Mindfulness course to help you establish mindfulness practice in your everyday life.
The course includes worksheets, audio recordings to help you practice and practical sessions, of course delivered outdoors in keeping with Tinkadventures philosophy.
If you’re interested in any of our Mindfulness walks or Forest Bathing sessions head to our events page for dates.
Feedback from recent sessions:
“It was lovely to slow down as I wouldn’t normally spend so much time being still and experiencing nature”
“I hadn’t noticed how tense I was … I now feel so much more relaxed”
“I felt I needed to shut my eyes to mindfully walk and when I opened then I saw a dragonfly near me”
We are also able to provide tailored sessions for workplaces – where employers are keen to ensure the mental wellbeing of their employees, this includes the 8 week programme.
